Jordy here. I just came across a story about MSNBC that made me reflect on why I’m so grateful for this community. According to new reports, Comcast plans to spin off its cable networks like MSNBC and CNBC as these networks continue to lose viewers and revenue. As a result, they may be renamed, and their talent and coverage could face significant upheaval.
This is just the latest in a series of troubling developments in the corporate media landscape. It feels like every day we hear about once-great institutions caving to power instead of standing up to it. Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski cozying up to Trump at Mar-a-Lago was just one obvious example of something we know is happening behind the scenes in far more insidious ways.
But that’s what happens when media outlets are beholden to corporate interests and owned by mega-conglomerates like Comcast.
Pair this with the corruption we’re already seeing from the incoming Trump administration, and it’s easy to feel disheartened. But here’s the thing—amid this discouraging reality, I also see incredible opportunity. We are witnessing a shift toward people power, where independent media and the voices of everyday Americans—not corporations—matter most.
One of the clearest examples of this came when Matt Gaetz announced he was withdrawing his bid to be Trump’s Attorney General. That didn’t happen because of corporate media. That happened because you made noise. You got LOUD. It’s a powerful and tangible reminder that even in this new Trump era, your voice matters—more than ever.
So when you see injustice or corruption, don’t let anyone silence you. Don’t let corporate media gaslight you. Get loud. Make noise. I want to be clear: we won’t win every battle—or even most. But we won’t win any if we don’t try.
Here’s my pledge to you: we will never shy away from holding truth to power. And knowing this community, I know you won’t either.
Now more than ever, independent media and the voices of everyday people are essential. We can no longer rely on the same old corporate structures we once trusted. But instead of letting that discourage us, let’s seize the opportunity before us. We are no longer waiting for the cavalry to save us. We are the cavalry. And together, we won’t quit.
If you’re able, please consider becoming a paid subscriber today to help our independent media network continue to grow. We’re up against networks backed by billions of dollars—and we’re beating them. And to corporate media? Sorry, but you can’t scare us off. Enjoy your next Mar-a-Lago party. We’ll be here, doing the job you were supposed to do.
We're here. Maybe a little tired, but here. Maybe a little scared, but here.
Here.
Thank you for being there. Knowing Meidas is staying strong helps to keep me calm during this time of fear about the future.
