I await the buyer’s remorse. Arab Americans delivered Michigan to Trump. I empathize with the anger, but the short-sightedness astounds me. Trump supports seizing land near the West Bank and his son-in-law wants to develop Gaza. Hispanic males helped swing multiple states because they could not support a woman leader. How soon will they will realize to Miller all “brown” people are illegal.

Sorry, guys. Still too angry to be helpful

Yes, it's my one consolation in all of this, I TRIED to tell them Jared wanted to level the place and put up beach front condos, but nope. Sorry for the Palestinians' plight, but THOSE fools, absolutely deserve that buyer's remorse, they just signed the death warrant of all those people they thought they were helping. I think along with the message that maintaining a democracy is YOUR job, maybe another message should be that no vote at all is better than a vote from ignorance.

I don’t know…and I don’t know if they can just cut people off like that. I don’t know if a SS attorney would know. There are millions of Americans on SS and Medicare/medicaid. That’s not the governments money. That belongs to every single American who has worked and paid into it. I don’t know.

Including many millions of Trump voters. Do they imagine they will be exempt from the consequences of such an agenda? Do they think Donald Trump is going to pay their medical bills or buy their groceries once he gives their SSI and healthcare dollars to the Plutocrats?

Oh? Great, -rolls eyes- of this I was not aware, more to consider, though for my issues, at least for the present, access to a pharmacy, and pain medications alone would be as beneficial than anything doctors have done for me. No one will prescribe what I need here, but I know in Mexico I can get it, I ended up doing suboxone just for the pain relief, but I guess I'll be coming out of pocket for that at some point too.

As I said in another thread, I genuinely look forward to the look on their ignorant faces when it finally dawns on them just how badly they utterly screwed the pooch on this one.

I agree. They thought that we were the ones who were brainwashed and meanwhile, no matter how much you tried to explain to them, we were wrong and they were right. I didn’t think that many Americans were going to sit this election out as well.

Seems to me considering challenging anything through the courts will mostly be unsuccessful and the SC will only approve what trump wants. I hope other approaches will be more effective. At least with legal challenges maybe we can get some public awareness. Again, mainstream/corporate media may or may not give these legal challenges any play time but if they do, maybe that will help sway some voters for 2026 (if we still have elections then).

I’m just dumbfounded how people that we know, whether it be family or friends, and the people that walk among us did this to all of us. I won’t be able to survive until 2026 without my benefits and I’m sure the many people on here who are on SS and Medicare will as well. And I don’t think the courts will listen to us. This is all just sickening.

I’m just concerned and wondering if they can legally stop SS and Medicare to the millions of Americans that are already on it. I think there would be unrest if that were to happen.

Trump's plans will cause SS to go bankrupt much earlier than before, resulting in mandatory cuts to those of us already relying on it to survive. Unless they privatize it, in which case the rich will just take everything and leave us nothing.

That money is not an entitlement…we pay 7.2% of our gross, which I did for 32 years before I got injured by a corporation that got Trump tax cuts whom did want to pay overtime, and our employer has to match it so another 7.2% of our gross goes into an account for when we retire. Because I had to leave the workforce early, my pension is missing 15 years of credits. I can’t and millions and millions of Americans won’t be able to survive. He talks about homeless people getting arrested…well, he’s going to cause millions to go homeless. There will be anarchy. I hope everyone who voted for this and those that decided to not show up to vote because of their Gaza protests when Bernie Sanders asked them to because he said they could have negotiated with a Harris Administration and not a clowns administration, like what the did.

I would love to send money across the border into the [soon to be former] US of A, but firearms are expensive in Canada and I do not intend to roll over.

Hopefully people stop pointing fingers at Kamala Harris: It was a vote of Trump or Not Trump, and they chose the path of least resistance … THEIR resistance. I feel that the non-conservatives in Canada reacted to this election result the same way one might feel when I friend gets a terminal diagnosis. The friend has 70+ days to live, and there is nothing you can do about it.

There may be an election in 2028, but I cannot foresee how or why Emperor Trump (or by his death, Emperor Vance), will ever allow one.

Russia is now the most powerful dictatorial country (to my North) and soon, US of A will be the second-most powerful dictatorial country (to my South). Let's just say, I feel very uneasy at this alliance.

Yes we do have to get down to the grassroots and mobilize to educate people - too many people did not vote! Where are they? Who are they? Why did they not vote? How do we reach and motivate them to take action? The Democratic party desperately needs to address this and act upon it now. Trump is NOT what America is and does not represent 1/2 the country. More like 22% because of non-voters. This is not who America is - too many people did not vote for whatever reason - so Trump did not get over half of the country supporting him - more like 1/5th - So we can take heart in knowing that the majority still support the America we are - but why didn't they vote!!

Trump got 72.6 million votes, or 50.8%. Harris got 46.9 million votes, or 47.5%. The two candidates got 140.5 million votes, excluding 3rd party and people who didn't vote for the top of the ticket. This, 72.6 million voters is TWENTY-TWO% (22%) of 330 Million Americans. More than one-fifth and LESS THAN ONE-QUARTER of Americans elected Trump. So the "Who we are" talk goes out the window. Trump didn't get 51% of voters with less a quarter of American votes.

Expand full comment

He got the young vote because of Reagan, Shapiro, kirkland... this is what votes see and the Republicans support them. The left who doesn't support any tells people to watch mainstream media. We need more programs like this and brian Cohen. The daily show interview tressie mcmillian cotton go watch her interview she tells you exactly how trump won. How and why people voted for him and we need to do the same.

This is reply to your "Mourning in America" email.

This is utter armchair nonsense.  And just plain wrong-headed.

It was not Harris, Biden, campaign tactics, Afghanistan, etc. etc.  This election was never about issues, it was always about gut anger.  Highly privileged and pampered Americans were unhappy with how their lives have turned out.  This despite having every comfort, opportunity, and support system available virtually no where else in the world.  Their current unhappy lives are a sole consequence of their own acts and choices, but they don't want to accept that: it would mean regret and self-recrimination for their past actions, and it would mean they actually have to get off the couch and make a change now.  Far easier to find the "other" to blame for their false "misery."  MAGA is all about (Trump's) blaming of Others instead of accepting personal responsibility, fixing one's course of action, and moving on.  Your focus on "issues and bad strategies" is not only completely inaccurate, it is dangerously misleading for your viewers who want to understand what went wrong, what horror show is coming down the pike, and how to respond.

Expand full comment

I personally welcome the suffering that’s about to come. Most Americans don’t really know what hardship and suffering is. But they’re about to find out. The fact is, most Americans are cruel and selfish people. The ONLY way this MAGAt nightmare ends is with their PERSONAL suffering. There is no other way to beat this thing.

Expand full comment

Once I thought similarly. But the way this works is that because this choice came from anger, when suffering strikes The Powers That Be simply redirect this new anger, and thus the blame for their suffering, at The Others. This tactic has worked well in Russia for over a century. It is what won this election despite a fantastic economy.

Expand full comment

What do you suggest? What do you think went wrong?

Expand full comment

I don't have any real suggestions other than for those who worked hard on the campaign: take a break, rest up, reassess your moral priorities, and then decide what you want to do. As for what went wrong, the kind of analysis in "Mourning", (a common approach in all media), completely misses the point. Harris (whom I did not support initially) ran a stellar campaign. But this was not a normal campaign. To now go back and find fault in her approach/decisions, or even in the Biden administration, wrongly focuses on irrelevant "analysis" or even "blame" when Harris lost as a consequence of manufactured gut anger, not issues.

So,as my thinking progresses from a double batch of Chex mix, pickling the last of the okra from my son's garden, to drinking straight from a bottle of Pinot Grigio, I am thinking of the young women of the Comete Ligne, the resistance movement that saved y dad during WW2. The resistance organization was started by a 19 yr old girl. I am reminded of the Parkland kids. MIA for 3 months, my dad was a 19 yr old co pilot on a B 17, shot down, found the helpers, moved from near Brussels to the South of France only to cross the Pyrenees and escape to Gibraltar. He was the first of the Bloody 100,the to walk out and return to Thorpe Abbott England.

I carry his legacy. Bring it!
