He’s a real leader and governor. Thank you for highlighting him.

Diverse women are the future of the Democrats. We don't need more rich white men like Beshear, Schumer, Newsom, etc. AOC, Elizabeth Warren, and Jasmine Crockett are much more attractive to young voters. https://democracydefender2025.substack.com/p/women-will-save-our-democracy

I beg to differ - Andy has appeal with both parties. He is a Democratic governor in a deep red state. He is a great person to lead.

I love his message and apparently he's a good steward in KY... however, I think there's more needed for national leadership. For the sake of KYans, I hope they continue to trust him to improve their communities and perspectives.

Expand full comment

What's the "more" you think is needed?

Expand full comment

omg quit with the identity politics. Anyone with a good heart and good message is welcome. This insufferable need to disqualify people based on their genetic and income profile is so stupid. You honestly think men have no contribution to saving democracy? Not even going to click on your self serving link.

Expand full comment

Yeah, but even gen z particularly men weren’t too keen on a female candidate. Overall, we NEED to have an actual primary in 2028, where the best person wins without DNC manipulation.

Expand full comment

We better do something before 2028. We won't have a leg to stand on in 2028. We need to do something like - now.

Expand full comment

I totally agree with you but no one seems to be doing anything and no one is standing up and speaking out about the nonsense going on. I don't understand it. What happened to our leaders?

Expand full comment

It is up to us to do something. Join Country First. Go to the rallies. Help me in emailing media companies like ABC, NBC, CNN and MSNBC and asking them why they aren't covering all the rallies that are happening throughout the country by millions of Americans.

Expand full comment

Sylvia, More importantly we need to ask them why they aren't cover the constitutional crisis he and Musk have created. Why they aren't cover the number of laws he has broken and name the heads of these organization that might face jail term if one of these judges get a big enough set of balls to decide to hold someone in contempt. More of this kind of action just might slow the orange one down. Can you see it? Musk behind bars. We need to put more pressure on these judges to follow through on these contempt charges just as they would do for you and I. No fines, just some time in a locked cell and the possibility of a criminal record.

Yes, I agree, very sad. I think a woman is what we need. However, it just seems apparent some Americans are just not ready.

Knock it off. Anyone willing to stand up to the idiots in charge should be welcome. You need to grow up.

America has spoken twice now when it comes to women and they both lost. We are just not there yet and I doubt we will be there in 2028.

Expand full comment

That's EXACTLY what the misogynists want you to think. Do not obey in advance. We were "not supposed to be there yet" when Obama ran and won - twice. Listen to your words. I'm sorry, but they are outrageous and shameful. Hillary Clinton got 3 million more votes than Trump - a larger margin than Biden beat Trump or Trump beat Harris. Educate yourself.

Expand full comment

I like your spunk but we have hindsight now. Either Harris was the wrong candidate or we just aren't there yet. Something went wrong we have to be honest with ourselves about that.

Expand full comment

Look at the FACTS and the extensive analysis done in "hindsight" about what "went wrong". It has NOTHING, ZERO ZIP NADA to do with Harris' gender. THAT is the problem with your SCREAMINGLY offensive misogynist comment. What you call my "spunk" is an expression of stunned outrage having familiarized myself with the real ifactual ssues around the Democratic loss in 2024. I would respectfully suggest you do some homework and lose the sexist snark.

Expand full comment

Hate to disagree, but it absolutely does have to do with gender--as far as the republiCRAPS (REAL conservative--anti women's rights ones, that is) go.

Expand full comment

OMG! Stop this in-fighting & back-biting. Can we just stand together & get something done. I'm all for supporting women but come on . .

Expand full comment

It's more important to do what's right than play to whims. Strong governmental leadership is needed, not more optics & politics. The problem has been in communication, not that candidates were women. Most people are going to support strong, clear leadership, regardless of "identity". The Felon only seized power because he played a strong leader on TV & people didn't look seriously enough at what skills & character traits are really needed. We need leaders that communicate well & have the skills & ethics to back it up. Anything else is secondary. Like this cat said, people can work with differences when someone is willing to stand for what they believe in.

IMHO, the two women lost because Dump cheated to win. I will never believe that he won those elections legitimately.

Expand full comment

I really hate how right you are.

Expand full comment

I really hate how clueless - he is and you are. Educate yourself.

Who pissed in your cheerios?

People who say we "are just not there yet" to elect a woman.

lets see, and men have lost, checks math, 45 times.

Just being diverse can't be the only qualification, and I'm all for diversity but there has to be all the other things that make a good leader.

I rarely anyone talking about the maga voter regulations and the maga poll workers who sent many voters (especially black voters in places like Georgia) away telling them that they had been excluded from the list of registered voters. Many were offered provisional ballots that were never counted. I am not a conspiracy nut, but I think between that and Elon's Starlink there was a lot of manipulation that excluded many votes.

I would absolutely LOVE to see a woman in the White House. Men have been rulers of this country for over 200 years, and look where they have gotten us. Unfortunately, I don’t think the country is ready. As wonderful as Kamala is, I think misogyny tipped the scale. I literally have heard several men I know state they did not vote for her because she was a woman. I was shocked to the core as I never suspected misogyny in their case. I think a lot of misogyny is not obvious, and there is more of it than we suspect. AOC or Jasmine on the ticket would be my dream!

Expand full comment

Sorry if you are seeing my reply twice. When I tried to reply it disappeared. Basically what I said, is we can’t take chances with a woman presidential candidate this time. I’m sorry, but it didn’t work out with Kamala Harris and we are in a big mess right now. I admire the women you mentioned above but there is a possibility that some American’s just aren’t ready. We can’t risk it. I hope I have to eat my words someday but I think, for now, it has to be a man. 🙁🤷‍♀️

Competence matters more than gender. Ys those you list are competent. They are not the only ones

Expand full comment

Everybody needs Andy Beshear. I’ve known him for almost 20 years and he is just amazing.

Expand full comment

Sadly, I don’t believe we will elect a woman in the near future. Andy is a good candidate.

Expand full comment

Buit the problem seems to be an aversion to females as leaders - it's an old, old thing that too many women themselves are guilty of, but if that is the case, then a male it has to be - rather a successful male than a failed female - not her fault at all - the fault of ignorance & traditions people can't get past !

Expand full comment

Not so sure. We thought that with Kamala Harris and it backfired. I can’t believe I’m saying this but we cannot take any chances re: next election. I think the next presidential candidate should be a man. Disgusting statement I know, but we cannot take any chances. Don’t get me wrong I admire all the women you mentioned above - they are awesome, at this point and time I think it’s too risky. I’m more than happy to eat more words someday.

Expand full comment

It isn't disgusting. I have no problem should Dems nominate a white male for president in 2028. Consider the enthusiasm for Bernie Sanders in 2016 and 2020.

Expand full comment

You are so stuck on the negatives on rich white men! There are many who are leaders and doers for everyday people of all diversities.

Expand full comment

The last election showed that the lower educated Americans, INCLUDING women, did not vote for women. Sadly this country is not ready for a woman president. The #1 task is to get MAGA out of power. The excellence that is Jasmine and AOC can wait a decade for us to flush the orange stain away.

Expand full comment

AOC and Crockett are not ready for the presidency. They are our future, not our now. Identity politics is killing our party.

Expand full comment

Chris Murphy and Andy Beshear need to organize the Democrat opposition. We need unity and a strong spokesperson to represent all of us - the Democrats, Independents, people protesting in the streets, lawyers fighting back, students, etc. We need a loyal opposition with a loud and clear message and a leader to shout our message about the Trump/Musk danger - hold daily press conferences - give examples - show that our message is united. We need united leadership under one effective voice backed by all the other good Democrats to lead our way. We need it now before Trump declares any more national emergencies and stops the protests next.

Expand full comment

I think Chris Murphy has been working heartily on that.

Yes, both of them are great! At this point, Chris Murphy is the only one I see our there fighting.

And Bernie - can't forget Bernie!

I agree and would add Dem Gov Pritzker of Illinois. He has been fearless and very vocal (and he has resources) bc, unfortunately money wins races under our current flawed system.

Beshear is a real leader!

The Sanders / Walz / AOC tours of non-blue districts and states is a great start. Even better would be to bring along a few dozen folks from blue areas to TALK with the independents and other interested parties. They've been told such lies for so long, let us humanize ourselves!

The S\W\OAC tour should be on MTN as much as possible. Magas declared war against us must be met with a furious counter attack..

Dear Ben. Great interview- Governor Beshear represents democracy and our core American values. Let’s hope he gets more democrats to follow his lead. Thank you..

Addressing the issue at hand. Being HONEST, willing to take the good in the bad with it. And to really be sincere.. We are all tired of being lied . Even my friends who voted for Trump are so disappointed. The thing is is not to knock each other down. To work together.

Expand full comment

Beshear is the kind of candidate that can win back the White House. While not a fan of the religion part, I can see how he would have broad appeal to a big swath of the nation.

Expand full comment

But this is why he has appeal across both parties. He doesn’t push the religion but has his own personal beliefs, which he doesn’t have an issue sharing. I am not a religious person but I hardily support Andy having his beliefs.

Expand full comment

Wow. He’s incredible. What a breath of fresh air. Thank you for interviewing him!

Loved the interview. That’s the kind of leader we need in this country. I hope Democrats listen to this interview and can take away from it what they should be doing and how to speak to people.

I kept saying that Kamala needed to pick him

He wasn’t even considered

What a leader

A democrat governor in a totally red state

He is out there listening to his own people

Not afraid to have his point of views

Not afraid to be approached by his constituents

Not afraid to bash the orange blob

Great interview

Thank you for having him on your show

WOW! He’s absolutely opposite of Trump. How inspiring to see a real human in politics

I like him better than newsome and Shapiro. He finally said what I've always been saying, call it starving, not food insecurity. He makes a lot of sense. Shapiro on the Bill Maher real time just did a lot of double talk and did not answer any question directly. He was the old fashioned two-faced politician. Of course we know what newsom has spent two weeks doing, talking to Steve Bannon and Charlie Kirk as if he believes everything they say
