I just had the privilege of sitting down with House Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries on the MeidasTouch Podcast. We dove straight into it—Trump’s latest unhinged rant about Ukraine, his endless lies, the cowardice of his Republican enablers—and what the heck Democrats and regular Americans can and will do to stop Trump.
Let’s start with the obvious: Donald Trump called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a dictator. That’s right—the guy actually fighting for democracy against Putin, the dictator Trump idolizes, is now a “dictator” in Trump’s twisted, upside-down world. It’s not just a lie—it’s deliberate propaganda meant to weaken support for Ukraine while Trump once again cozies up to Putin.
And where are the Republicans? Hiding. Pretending they didn’t hear what Trump said. Jeffries laid it out clearly: “Hypocrisy is not a constraint to their behavior.” These MAGA extremists have no shame, no integrity, no backbone.
Jeffries made it crystal clear: Trump and his enablers want to discourage us. They want to exhaust us. They want us to throw up our hands and say, “What’s the point?” But we will not bend the knee to Trump. We will not let them break our spirit. We will fight on every front—Congress, the courts, and most importantly, in our communities.
This isn’t just about politics. This is about real life. Jeffries walked through the Republicans’ actual plans—$4.5 trillion in tax cuts for the billionaires, while gutting Medicaid, education, veterans’ benefits, and food assistance for struggling families. These people don’t govern; they loot the government for themselves and their rich donors while making working people suffer.
And if that wasn’t enough, we’re now dealing with a Trump-era Frankenstein monster: Elon Musk embedding himself inside our government like a parasite. He’s slithering into federal agencies, gaining access to private financial and social security data, all while Trump hands him the keys to the country like some dystopian oligarch. What the hell is that about?
But here’s the good news—we have the power to stop this.
Jeffries reminded us that we’ve done it before. In 2017, Trump and the GOP tried to repeal the Affordable Care Act. They had the numbers. They had the power. But the American people mobilized. We marched. We called. We showed up in every way imaginable. And we won. Trump was humiliated, and his top legislative priority went up in flames.
That’s part of the playbook. And that’s what we’re going to do again.
As you listen to Jeffries other thoughts on Trump 2.0, I want you to keep this in mind: We are not powerless. We are not alone. There are tens of millions of us who refuse to let our democracy be hijacked by a criminal, a coward, and a con man. So, if you’re asking “What can I do?”—start here:
Call your representatives. Make them feel the pressure.
Show up—protests, town halls, community meetings. Your presence matters.
Support independent media that tells the truth. (You’re here, so you already get it.)
Organize. Mobilize.
This is not the time to back down. This is the moment to rise up.
We’ve faced authoritarianism before, and we’ve beaten it. We’ll do it again. But it takes all of us.
Let’s go.
