I agree. I am taking training in nonviolent resistance. For me, that is the best path to overcoming oppression. It is the only path that I can see myself following. It takes a lot of thought and a lot of courage, but through my studies, I am learning just how effective it can be. Anyone interested can check out the META Center in Petaluma. They are offering training through Zoom. Another place to check out is Pace Bene in Corvallis, Oregon. Don't forget the New Hampshire Peace Action, where you can hear weekly from courageous peace activists. Another very interesting group is Faithful America, a progressive, ecumenical group pushing back hard against Christian Nationalism in all its unholy forms.

As a retired Social Worker age 74, I feel there is a giant neon elephant in the room that no one is talking about. Trump is obviously in violation of the Constitution, that makes him a traitor. Getting rid of all but the most venal judges is exactly what Hitler did. The nazification of culture: The Dear Leader takes over the Kennedy Center, gets universities to purge programs that he and his toadies find offensive. Blackmails lawyers to silence the opposition. Extorts the oligarchs. And don't forget the Dear Leader's Brown Shirts; this time they are call Proud Boys.
The only way this will be stopped is by permanently getting rid of these people. Do not be so naive as to believe that speeches and protests alone will stop them. The reaction to the SC decisions shows that this regime is lawless.

As far as "why do we need a Supreme Court?" presuming that they weren't overloaded with corrupt judges, they are supposed to make sure that laws passed by Congress are in line with the Constitution. Supposedly, and in the world prior to "t" being born into it, that was to check and balance Congress and/or the President from creating laws that took away the very rights that our fore-ancestors fought and died for.

I wonder if a new viable party will not be formed by this resistance movement. The GOP absorbed the Tea Party. This new party may do better remaining independent of the Democrat party if it can gain enough support and groundswell to go it alone. I think the GOP is dead as a viable party. I could see America ending up following the path of the events of WWII and being squashed and being rebuilt with the help of the conquering nations. One can always dream. Courts will not act in prevention of an potential criminal act that has not occurred as yet. Some harm has to occur before the courts can get involved. Lawyers tried to 'stop' harm from occurring and the judge said 'come back when the beating is over and you have bruises.'
Laws are supposed to be preventative, but if they are ignored, they are useless. Unless and until someone gets "disappeared" that is an American Citizen, then the courts are not going to do anything.
