Hi Meidas Mighty,
I want to discuss an editorial decision we’ve made that you may or may not agree with.
Because we have zero investors here, and you are our only stakeholders, I owe it to you to provide transparency around our editorial decisions.
Here it goes.
Unlike all corporate media and most other YouTube channels, the MeidasTouch Network’s editorial board has unanimously decided not to stream Trump’s inauguration next week. This is consistent with other editorial decisions we’ve made to avoid showing Trump videos or audio in my video reports and on our podcasts.
While I’m sure we would command one of the biggest audiences on YouTube if we streamed the inauguration—and it would likely provide much-needed revenue to the network—it’s important that we take a principled stand here. For us, that is more important than views, clicks, or revenue.
Speaker MAGA Mike Johnson has already disrespected our national mourning for former President Carter by ordering flags to be raised from half-staff. Trump will undoubtedly use the inauguration to spew lies and hate.
Even if our intention in streaming the inauguration was to critique Trump’s speech, I don’t want to use our massive platform of 3.5 million YouTube subscribers to give him attention.
After the inauguration, I will provide a report—without video or audio of the event—to fact-check his lies. This is the same approach I’ve taken for all his press conferences and appearances, and I will not deviate from this format for the inauguration.
Some of you have messaged me privately with concerns that this approach may cause us to lose viewers and revenue, especially since other channels show Trump videos. I genuinely appreciate your feedback and concerns.
But this is a position I am not going to budge on anytime soon. I believe I can effectively communicate the news without giving Trump the attention and eyeballs he craves.
I hope you understand.
I am also exploring alternative programming that will be fun and entertaining for this community during the inauguration. I’m working on something I think you’ll definitely enjoy that does not involve Trump.
As I’ve said before, Trump is a WMD—a Weapon of Mass Distraction. I refuse to let his outlandish lies and moral turpitude distract us from his broken promises and failures, like his inability to lower prices, make housing more affordable, or secure peace in Ukraine within 24 hours as he once claimed.
We must lead boldly here at the MeidasTouch Network.
I am confident we can continue building this independent media network, maintaining our vision of zero investors, and growing together with you, the Meidas Mighty.
You’ve made it clear that independence is non-negotiable. If you’d like to help us continue growing, please consider becoming a paid subscriber to this Substack if you aren’t already. Subscriptions are one of the main ways we grow. You can also gift subscriptions to others.
If you’re able, please subscribe now and send a powerful message to the world that the Meidas Mighty approach to inauguration coverage is the right one.
Thanks to you, we don’t need outside investors to stay the top YouTube channel in America and continue beating Fox and other corporate media.
Thank you for reading, and thanks for subscribing.
Good decision. Fuck that guy. Keep up the great work!
I LOVE that I can find out the news without hearing or seeing him and was already planning to boycott watching the inauguration so I applaud your plan!
