This is the most cogent honest and inspiring piece I have read in a very long time. I feel like I have learned about your character development, and its centrality to who you are. Thank you, it is inspiring.
I know this was a very long conversation however it is very important to read this entire conversation to get a grasp on what he is sharing! I appreciate you! And hopefully we will become so strong that we can regain the House! And see our future together as Democrats in the WH again doing our best and great work together!!
Great article. Just subscribed to Jennifer Rubin's new Contrarian substack. She used to be a conservative R also. I doubt she is long for the WaPo, and anyway, my subscription ends in April. I am registered Independent, have never voted R in my life, and being from the Northeast have long known what trump is. I remember an interview with him in the 1980s that said, "Donald Trump has a 40-foot living room and lives in fear that somewhere, someone has a 60-foot living room."
She left WaPo today to concentrate on the Contrarian. I can’t subscribe until the 1st of the month since I’m on a limited income and need to have the charges come due on the first. I definitely respect her, and want to subscribe.
Rubin has quit her job at WaPo. Since she's gone, and since I've found out that Alexandra Petri posts her columns on Bluesky, I cancelled my WaPo subscription today, effective at the end of this month.
Thank you sharing this, Ron. Not only does it make me appreciate what you do every day more, but it personalizes the person behind the Daily Bulletins I have come to rely on. Thank you.
Thank you for that excellent story of how you got here. Your daily newsletters are a must read for me, along with Heather Cox Richardson and Joyce Vance. The 3 of you bring clarity to the daily insanity we face that will only get worse after inauguration.
Thanks so much for your dedication and hard work. It’s inspiring to know people like you and the Meiselas brothers care more about our democracy than fame and making money. Please keep up the great work, and we’ll keep supporting you as we can.
I enjoyed reading your story. I’m also a huge fan of Cape Cod, where my family vacationed every summer when I was growing up! I, too, am a former Republican and I changed my party affiliation to Democrat around the same time you did. I grew up in a Republican household (my parents met at Young Republicans) but couldn’t stay in the Republican Party. Now my husband and I are on the board of our local Democratic Club in Florida. It feels good to be trying to make an effort to change things!
I was a lifelong Republican until Trump got the nomination. I voted third party (which I regret) then became a Democrat in 2020. My evangelical friends didn't care that Trump was a thrice married, lying p#ssy grabber. He was going to outlaw abortion, and that's all they cared about. I was horrified.
I'm glad we both saw the light, and it seems many others have as well.
Wow. Thank you for sharing your story. I knew a little about your background and wondered how, when and why you left the Republican Party. I appreciate that your experience gives you a perspective on things that may be different than mine from time to time but most of the time that’s not the case and many times it’s provides me with food for thought. It’s never a wasted day when I learn something new. Thank you for your tirelessness and courage in the fight ahead and keeping us informed. Your daily summaries of the the day’s events are so informative and helpful to me.
Thanks RF. I appreciate you. You should be proud of the life you’ve lived. I’m glad you’re part of MTN. Tbh, the daily bulletin was the push I needed to become a paid subscriber…💚🩵❤️💛💜
I sincerely don’t understand the whole ‘owning the libs’ that r’s brag about. How can you hate your fellow man so much and espouse a career in ‘public service’ that really doesn’t have any public service to it? It’s all just self service.
A great life story! I admire your tenaciousness for an education and your recognition of the change in the GOP. I enjoy reading your work and I agree with your views. It will take all of us to turn this ship around.
Amazing story of your journey, Ron! I found out about you through Keith Olbermann’s podcast, he said your Twittter account was indispensable and boy was he right! Before you joined the Meidas Bros., I’ve always thought of you these past two years as being the eyes and ears of what’s going on in MAGA world for us sane people. Today I gladly subscribe to Meidas+ simply because of your brilliant points of view I’ve seen on Twitter. Much love from the Blue Dot of Nebraska good sir!
Appreciate your sharing your journey, taking us along for the trip. You and your colleagues on the Meiselas network have a crucial role to fill in helping save our democracy. Don’t let the bastards grind you down!

Ron, I would like to second every word expressed by Donald S. Richardson!
I am so happy you took this time to tell your story in your own words.
What an amazing, inspirational story it is.
Your family must be so proud of you.
Grateful to be on your team…looking forward to all that you will have to share with us in the coming decade(s).
Thank you Ron!
Thank you for sharing your experience I appreciate reading stories of people that have such great resilience and courage and compassion!

There is a limited free subscription until you can do the paid one.
Thank you, I just signed up for the free one.

I cancelled mine before the election, but it was annual, so ends in April.
Robin resigned today from WaPo.

Yes! I agree with you. Well written. I am new to all this and I am learning so much.

Wow, what a story! I’m so grateful that you’re on our side!
I love this
Me too Sometimes when I get discouraged I have to listen to Marc or Ben and I love that they don’t play Trumps voice on here 💙

A wonderful story about your personal journey. Thanks for your service as well. From an old Sailor “SEMPER FI!”
