… At the same time that Rep. Mike Rogers was on Fox lobbying for why he should be Trump’s FBI Director, Dan Scavino was posting this: “Just spoke to Trump regarding Mike Rogers going to the FBI. It’s not happening. In his own words, ‘I have never even given it a thought.’ Not happening.”

… Which is funny because yesterday Texas AG Ken Paxton was on Steve Bannon’s show making his case for why he should be Trump’s AG while Trump was announcing Pam Bondi.

… Paxton then took out his frustrations on being passed over by announcing that his office was opening an investigation of companies who continue to refuse to advertise on Elon Musk’s X platform.

… Scavino is as close to Trump as anyone, so I would take that to the bank. The Truth Social posts that are semi-coherent with fewer than 5 spelling and grammar errors are Scavino’s. The reason why we know this is because Trump’s lawyers tried to blame Scavino for one of his gag order violations during his fraud trial by disclosing to the court that Scavino has made a lot of Trump’s social media posts for years. There is NOBODY on earth Trump trusts more than Scavino.

… Scavino also posted that he is considering moving his residence a little bit further upstate to run for Elise Stefanik’s open seat in Congress after she was appointed Ambassador the UN. From Trump’s golf caddie to Congress, what a ride for Scavino.

… CNN is reporting that Trump will task his new DOJ with conducting an investigation into whether the 2020 election was stolen from him.

… FL Dem Chair Nikki Fried on Pam Bondi: “She was the ringleader in the attempt to sue the ACA out of existence and overturn the pre-existing conditions rule. She filed the original suit and was the lead plaintiff on the case. When Trump says he’s going to end the ACA, believe him now that he’s nominated Pam Bondi to finish the job.”

… Trump named hedge fund manager Scott Bessent as his Treasury Secretary. Bessent is a former protege of George Soros and is openly gay. MAGA social media should be fun to follow tonight for reaction. For once.

… As I reported in this column yesterday, Matt Gaetz has now confirmed publicly that he is done serving in Congress and has no plans to run again anytime in the near future. Good riddance. I will do something I have never done before - thank Donald Trump for something. Thanks for getting Gaetz out of Congress for us.

… Also like Santos, Gaetz has vowed revenge on his colleagues in the House. He says he will be releasing damaging insider trading information on House members who used confidential information in briefings to profit in the market.

… Incoming Rep. Sarah McBride said that she never intended to use any of the multi-stall bathrooms at the Capitol and was always planning to use a private bathroom. But nobody ever called her and asked her about it until Nancy Mace decided to make that her Most Important Thing and new obsession.

… Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy announced that they will be doing a podcast called DOGEcast where they will provide weekly updates on their programs towards their promised goal to cut the federal budget by 33%. This is where I pull rank and delegate watching this to one of our very eager and talented writers.

… Musk claimed today that more than half of America voted for Trump and “he won the popular vote by a decisive margin!” The updated popular vote is Trump 49.87%, Harris 48.25%.

… Lindsay Graham on Trump’s pick of Pam Bondi for AG. An actual direct quote: “Well done, Mr. President. Picking Pam Bondi for AG is a grand slam, touchdown, hole in one, ace, hat trick, slam dunk, Olympic gold medal pick.” Someday we are going to find out what Trump has on Lindsey. I don’t want to see the pics, but I’m pretty sure I have a general idea on the subject matter.

… Bondi happens to be the sister of the lawyer who represented Musk and Tesla when he was charged with securities fraud by the SEC. Expect that ongoing investigation to also be shut down as soon as Bondi takes over at DOJ. As I’ve pointed out many times, there is A LOT that Musk gets from the government, but he wants a WHOLE LOT more.

… 32,000 people in PA voted Harris for president but the Green Party candidate for Senate. Bob Casey lost by 16,349 votes. If those Harris voters also voted Casey, he wins.

… Republican Rep. Mike Lawler drew the ire of his MAGA friends when he celebrated Matt Gaetz’s demise by posting a meme of a smiling Kevin McCarthy, who Gaetz toppled from the Speaker’s chair. Lawler captioned it, “Justice has been served.” He received 4,600 replies. All of them from his fellow Republicans viciously trashing him. I read the first hundred. It wasn’t boring.

… Gaetz is now following the footsteps of his disgraced friend and former colleague George Santos on his post-legislative career. After Santos was indicted and expelled from Congress, he started making bank doing Cameos for $500 a pop. Now Gaetz is doing the same. Jimmy Kimmel was able to prank Santos by getting him to say some
