… Gibson Guitars has hit Trump with a cease and desist over his use of the Les Paul body in his Trump Guitars that he is grifting for $10,000. The company that pays him for branding received the notice from Gibson’s lawyers that they intend to sue if he sells any guitars.

… Chris Rufo, the right-wing propagandist behind the CRT hoax in 2021, who was then brought in by Desantis to wreck liberal New College, is now going to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Trump officials on their plan to sue universities who have DEI programs and seize their endowments. When I told everyone in 2023 and 2024 that he was going to do this, it was largely ignored by the media. Now it is about to become reality. They will freak out soon - after the fact. As usual.

… I guess everyone just thought Trump was bluffing on all this authoritarian stuff he promised on his website.

… Jack Smith dismissed the remaining indictments against Trump today. Merrick Garland, the Supreme Court, and 49% of voters all combined to ensure that Trump will face zero accountability for any of his crimes. He now enters office fully emboldened and incentivized to commit more.

… I am every bit as frustrated about this as everyone else. This is definitely not Jack Smith’s fault. He and his staff did everything they possibly could. But Garland’s dithering, then late appointment, then Judge Cannon, then SCOTUS, all made it impossible for him to get a conviction. Now he has a target on him wherever he goes and whatever he does. It took a lot of courage for him to accept this appointment and do what he did, he certainly has my thanks.

… Gavin Newsom said if the Trump Admin revokes the $7,500 credit for EV vehicles, then California will offer the same credit as a replacement for cars purchased in their state.

… Except for Tesla. Newsom said the tax credit will not apply to purchases of Tesla because he says that the purpose of the new credit would be about “creating the market conditions for more of these car makers to take root,” rather than existing companies who have already benefitted from government largesse. Someone understands how to play hardball with these people. I wish more did.

… Trump’s Health Czar RFK Jr credits heroin for his academic success: “I was at the bottom of my class, then I started doing heroin and I went to the top of my class.” Comforting.

… Dan Bongino denied all rumors he will be Trump’s Secret Service Director today. He said he has not had a single conversation with Trump or his team about the job. My original take that there was no way Trump was going to put his life in Bongino’s hands appears to be accurate.

… Bongino also responded to Geraldo Rivera’s comments on CNN that if he walked into a bar he would fight Bongino: “Why does everybody always want to fight me? I am old and decaying. These are show muscles, they don’t work. Do I have a punchable face or something?”

… Don Jr says that his dad plans to attempt to remove some mainstream media outlets from being able to attend White House press briefings. When I warned many times that he was coming for freedom of the press, I wasn’t just talking about Trump’s DOJ putting journalists in jail for refusing to reveal leakers. There are lots of ways to erode press freedoms.

… A CBS poll shows that Americans oppose any attempt by Trump to bypass Senate confirmation hearings on his appointments by 76-24%.

… Trump’s attractive young blonde personal assistant Natalie Harp will follow Trump from Mar-a-Lago to the White House. Harp sent a letter to Trump last year where she said she told Trump that she had “synergy” with him where “we’d talk about everything and nothing. I want to bring you joy .. to feel like we can get through a day without ever having to talk about work.”

… So many people got distracted by Alina Habba speculation, but nobody spends more time with Trump day in and day out than Harp. She was always my pick as his new “special friend.” Melania damn sure hasn’t been around at all for the last 4 years. They are often in different states even.

… Oh, and don’t think I’m above trafficking in salacious political gossip. I love it.

… Alex Jones claims that recent discovery documents in his bankruptcy case show that Michael Bloomberg is a financial backer behind The Onion and helped to finance their purchase of InfoWars. Certainly sounds plausible, could also be Alex blaming The Jews again for his troubles.

… Trump announced that he will impose an immediate 25% tariff on all products coming into the US from Canada and Mexico until those countries stop all migrants and drugs from entering the US. Of course, more drugs probably enters Canada from the US than vice-versa, so expect retaliation and a trade war.

… Trump also announced tonight that he was going to impose an additional 10% tariff on products imported from China in addition to his previously announced tariffs until they stop all fentanyl from coming into America. Basically adding a tax on Americans for something that he says China is doing. Good thing his new pal Jeff Bezos doesn’t sell anything made in China.

… The New Yorker published a lengthy piece about OB/GYN doctors fleeing Texas because of their draconian new laws restricting care. Here is an excerpt: “Among practitioners there is a quiet sense of doom. ‘The pipeline is drying up,’ Charles Brown, a maternal-fetal expert and a former TX regional chair of the American College of Ob/Gyns, said. A growing number of residents who trained in the state were leaving, and many established doctors were contemplating it, too. ‘We’re just not going to have enough people to take care of women in this state.’”

… George Santos posted on X that he thinks it is time for Nancy Mace to take a break from social media: “Mace needs a break from X. She’s giving unhinged vibes with over 300 posts about the bathroom situation that was addressed and resolved by Speaker Johnson. She wants attention and y’all are giving it to her as she spirals out of control. Hey Nancy, drop the Ozempic it’s f*cking with you mind girly!”
