… Michael Flynn called for Trump to appoint Sidney Powell to a post where she will help reform DOJ: “Sidney Powell is a consummate legal professional and mind. She has handled tons of high profile cases successfully and knows the extreme depths of corruption inside DOJ like nobody else I know. Massive reform is required.”

… Patrick Byrne, who attended the WH meeting with Trump where Powell and Flynn tried to persuade Trump to declare martial law and seize voting machines, then chimed in saying Powell got a bad rap from the media in 2020: “The world dumped on her because in the heat of the moment her filings had some typos and she had not catalogued all the evidence perfectly.” For me it was actually claiming the ghost of Hugo Chavez using an Italian spy to flip votes in the machines.

… Interesting love triangle shaping up as Pete Hegseth will now attend the Army/Navy game this weekend with Trump and Desantis. There were rumors that Desantis was using this event to work on Trump to advance his cause why he should be considered as a replacement for Hegseth. But now Hegseth has decided to be the third wheel on their date. This was just announced by his former Fox co-host Will Cain.

… Sen Joni Ernst had a second meeting with Pete Hegseth today. She is currently seen as the biggest obstacle to his nomination. With all the pressure being brought to bear on her from Trump and MAGA activists, it is hard to see how she doesn’t cave. They always cave. Ernst sounded mostly positive about the meeting after, but said she was going to wait for the process to play out with a full background check.

… The only news from the meeting was that Hegseth apparently promised Ernst that he would not try and remove women from serving in combat roles, and that made her happy.

… Meanwhile, Ernst had breakfast this morning with Tulsi Gabbard.

… Tyler Winklevoss: “RINOs are the enemy within and the greatest threat to the American Renaissance. Who should be getting primaried?”

… The Hill is reporting that a source close to both Bernie Sanders and RFK Jr has told them that Sanders will vote for both Kennedy and Gabbard to be confirmed. I got to admit I was pretty pissed about this for an hour and had to get offline to process. I guess when I think of it I can see the reasons why Bernie would find the positions of both on different issues attractive based on some of his beliefs, but he fails to take into account that: 1. Both of them are likely compromised; 2. Both are definitely deeply disturbed; 3. Both are 1,000% untrustworthy.

… Lots of theories and info swirling about the background of the United Healthcare CEO assassin Luigi Mangione. 3 decades of experience as a prosecutor and criminal defense attorney has taught me to proceed with caution on motive in these cases. Someone can present as one thing at one point in their life, and then something happens and a month later they just snap and become someone else. This happens a lot. So be cautious reading into anything from when this guy was in high school or college.

… The most persuasive reporting I saw on Mangione is that he had a surfing accident in Hawaii and suffered a serious back injury. Surgery went poorly and that “changed everything” causing him to go “absolutely crazy.” He then moved to Japan and his family was trying to get in touch with him for the past year with no response. He stopped posting on social media six months ago.

… Not sure if his healthcare coverage was a factor. I can tell you that I was a serious competitive triathlete and suffered permanent nerve damage in my foot in 2019 and it was mentally devastating for a long time. When being an athlete is your life and lifestyle and that is taken away it can become really hard to process and deal with. Just my thoughts that we tend to want to make everything about politics when most of the time things aren’t really about politics.

… What also could also be a factor is that he could’ve been abusing pain meds or self-medicating with street drugs. Bottom line is that nobody really has any idea and it is pretty irresponsible to speculate. But that is what we do in the modern social media world.

… Of course, that never stops Ted Cruz. Five minutes after Mangione’s name was released, Ted posted: “Leftism is a mental disease. The suspected murderer, an Ivy League graduate, subscribed to anti-capitalist and climate-change causes. And the murderer has been widely celebrated by leftists online. Tragic and sick.” Mangione also retweeted Elon Musk and Tucker Carlson. Some leftist.

… Ted also blamed the Uvalde school shooting on a teacher supposedly leaving the door unlocked. It later turned out she didn’t. Ted never apologized though.

… One thing I can tell you for certain based on what is happening on TikTok and social media today, the jail that Mangione was just booked into his about to be flooded with love letters and marriage proposals from both men and women. For a variety of reasons, right or wrong, nothing is going to stop this guy from being a folk hero. It is already happening. This is going to be the Menendez brothers on steroids.

… After David Frum’s Morning Joe controversy last week, he was back on the show this morning: “I was glad to be invited on Morning Joe this morning to talk about Syria. This show is one of the most important platforms in US politics. With Trump threatening to jail his critics, small d democrats must stand together. I always speak freely without fear anywhere I appear.”

… Sen John Kennedy was asked by Fox about Trump’s tariffs: “There’s an old saying, exercise makes you look better naked. But so does alcohol. And I say that because carrots are a little bit like whiskey, it depends on the circumstances. Well, whiskey sometimes can make the world look better. Now, too much will make you sick and it'll hurt you. I have never seen Trump as this wild eyed protectionist. I think he's for the most part, always using tariffs selectively. It depends on the circumstances. I expect him to use them selectively.” In other words, his cronies and donors will get waivers. We already know that.

… Lara Trump announced in a late night social media post that she is stepping down as co-Chair of the RNC. I wrote in this column last week that it was notable when Trump announced Michael Whatley was going to continue on as Chair he didn’t mention Lara. Maybe a deal has been made for Desantis to appoint her to Rubio’s seat. Or maybe she just wants to focus on her music career.

… Rare criticism of Trump from Fox Legal Analyst Jonathan Turley: “No, the J6 Committee should not go to jail. The fact is that there is no viable criminal case to be made. We need to move beyond the rage rhetoric if this country is going to come together to face the tough challenges ahead.”

… Nikki Haley continues to change her messaging daily on Trump: “Over the past few weeks there has been a lot of fear mongering about the next administration. You may not agree with everything he says but he is not the monster the liberal media has painted him to be. The way we heal as a country is to keep an open mind and all pray for a successful four years.” Nikki Haley stands for nothing and everything. Her beliefs are a moving target.

… American Federation of Teachers Union President Randi Weingarten gave her ideas in a speech at Columbia on how Democrats can reconnect with working class voters by changing their approach to education to reemphasize the value of students who aren’t on a college track: “The high school experience must be transformed to include career and technical education in everything from healthcare to advanced manufacturing to automotive repair. These experiences should be the norm.”

… Sen Peter Welch (VT) has filed a resolution to establish term limits for Supreme Court Justices of 18 years.

… Kari Lake turned up at CPAC Argentina over the weekend. She is also rumored to be the frontrunner as Trump’s Ambassador to Mexico.

… CNN just had its worst week for ratings since 2001, averaging just 268,000 viewers per show. MSNBC had just 346,000.

… Rudy Giuliani responded to his former WABC boss John Catsimatidis telling the NY Post that they remain friends even after he fired Rudy: “He is lying. I do not talk to him. I will not talk to him. He lied to me, misled me, and turned his back on me and, as you know, I am not a phony.”

… Rudy wasn’t done: “Even worse my WABC colleagues abandoned me, without even asking my side of the story. Money corrupts, big money corrupts absolutely.” Catsimatidis said he fired Rudy because he wouldn’t stop saying the 2020 election was stolen after being warned repeatedly, and said he received notice from Dominion that he would get sued if he continued to platform Rudy, so he had to get rid of him.

… Big day for Judicial Watch’s pathetic president Tom Fitton, who likes to flex for the camera in shirts too small for him while wearing way too much makeup. He says that Fani Willis has a court-ordered deadline of today to turn over any correspondence between the Fulton DA’s office and Jack Smith’s office and the J6 Committee. Willis has ignored him up to this point and it is unclear if there are any records or whether she will turn them over.

… Senior Trump Advisor Corey Lewandowski: “Fani is another name for ass in my business. She’s a terrible prosecutor.”

… Tom Cotton predicts that every pending Trump nominee will be confirmed by the Senate.

… Democrat Derek Tran won by just 650 votes in a diverse CA congressional district that is 39% Asian-American. Trump won the district, and Elon Musk’s PACs and his tech pals spent a huge amount of money trying to convince the immigrant community that Tran and the Democrats were just like communists in the countries they fled from. Ultimately, the effort failed as this message has tended to work with the older generation but not with younger Asian-American voters.

… Nancy Mace took a 5 minute break from talking about bathrooms to post this message: “Congress needs to stop playing politics and get back to work.” Her staff spent an hour running around looking for a bullhorn on Friday so she could put on a performance outside the Capitol Police holding cell. Five minutes after saying that Congress needs to focus on serious work she posted: “Cis is a slur.”

… James Comer wrote a long Op-Ed today for Fox trying to justify why his two year investigation of Hunter Biden, that spent two years and wasted millions of dollars, wasn’t a complete waste of time. It was the same old rehashed nonsense. The guy needs a hobby or something.

… In a 12:45 AM post on Truth Social, Trump said the following gibberish: “The Democrats are fighting hard to get rid of the popular vote in future elections. They want all future presidential elections to be based exclusively on the Electoral College!” The guy is completely losing it.

… Looks like the popular vote margin is going to end up with Trump winning by just 1.48% of the vote.
