But here’s the part that got me, and I think it’ll get you too: these Senators aren’t sitting around whining. They’re doing the work. Kaine’s using little-known Senate rules to force votes the Republicans can’t block. Murphy is ramping up content and town halls, meeting Trump’s volume with truth, clarity, and urgency. Their strategy? Flood the zone. Fight on every front. Never back down. It’s great to see that our voices are finally being heard in the halls of Congress.
Murphy put it perfectly: Everything Trump and his cronies are doing is about empowering oligarchs and silencing the rest of us. That’s why we need a mass mobilization—like what we saw in 2017 when we stopped them from repealing the Affordable Care Act. And guess what? We can do it again.
Kaine said it best: Come America’s 250th birthday in 2026, we’re going to celebrate democracy, not mourn its loss or suffer a dictator’s coronation. But that only happens if we fight. Every single day.

We had over 10,000 protestors in Salt Lake City! Amazing peaceful turnout in one of the reddest states.
I saw a post from a person who was involved in the protest in NYC and he spoke with a high ranking police officer about the crowd. The officer told him not to spread it around, but they only had something like 44 officers total at the enormous protest. They had no idea there would be so many people. But the officer was full of compliments for the crows, saying it was entirely peaceful and pretty amazing to watch. Protesters were also helping keep traffic away from the crowd. This is how we do it! No violence...just the overwhelming presence of millions of people who care enough to make their voices heard. As an old activist, it reminds me of the civil rights protests that were peaceful, yet so very effective.

the reports say that over 100,000 people showed up today in NYC to protest. I went. HUGE crowd. we gathered in Bryant Park which is stretched from 6th avenue to almost 5th avenue between 42nd street and 40th. we were to march down 5th ave. I started walking towards 5th on 40th and it took over half an hour to go half a block there were so many people trying to merge. And yes, people are pissed. Lots of enthusiasm, lots of chanting and some great signs but the overall vibe was people are really angry.

I’m not impressed. Where have you been for 2 months? Cowering? Kaine voted for 8 of Trump’s nominees by Mar. 10. WHY????????? (Maybe more by now.) How could he support any of Trump’s evil, inept nominees. Murphy voted for one, Marco Rubio, also a horrible choice. There are many Senate tools they could have been using for TWO MONTHS. They could have obstructed and delayed. Filibuster like Booker did. Wonderful! But why so late? Our Democracy may be gone.

A disabled woman from California put it bluntly in testimony cited by Senator Sanders: if she can't prove she’s "sick enough,” she fears she'll be forced to work herself into an early grave, just to survive.
The media must report that this is happening now, not IF cuts happen in the future.
Local editors and TV producers need to hear from us. Urge them to report the truth about what Trump and Musk are doing to Social Security now -- before it’s too late.

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., said he has “a big concern” about Medicaid cuts in the legislation, and said he only agreed to back the budget after Trump made an “unequivocal” promise to him that the bill won’t cut Medicaid benefits.
Hawley wasn't alone.
Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said that cutting the health insurance program “would be very harmful to people in Maine and to our rural hospitals and other health care providers.”

Never forget how we got here - 50 years of corporatist, establishment Republicans AND Democrats economically pillaging the middle class and poor to further enrich themselves, their billionaire donors, and to fund the pathological military-industrial complex. Now, as the GOP has died and the MAGAts have risen with their fascist dictator, it is up to the Dems alone to realize the incredible harm they've done, change course, and fight like hell. The MAGAts already control Congress, so they are now threatening the judicial branch and going hard after voting rights. The reason Trumps plan, to bring “jobs” BACK to the USA, will NOT work is simple. The reason they left was to seek a lower cost labor force. Americans simply can’t afford to work for the wages paid overseas. So, if those “jobs” come back, all of those products will cost at least as much, if not more, than the products cost with tariffs. Trump calls this giant inflation increase an “ adjustment”. It simply won’t work because no one here will be able to afford the products. And if wages increase to compensate for higher cost products built here, instead of overseas, the inflation will take another hike upwards.

So, Ben, I heard Sen Murphy say that Medicaid has a different name in every state. It seems like publicizing this would make a difference in support and help us realize why Medicaid is such a large line item in budgeting. As a Washingtonian I always assumed AppleCare was a state program. Which it is, but using federal Medicaid funds.

Unfortunately our allies and trading partners will have agreements in place with other countries and will end up leaving out our farmers, auto manufacturers, financial sources and others since the U.S. will still be burdened and shackled with delusional/misguided Republicans, MAGA and evangelicals which leaves the U.S. as untrustworthy.
This was incredibly interesting and helpful to watch. I disnt realize that the Democrats were organized enough (at least in the Senate) to give each Senator a specific "job." It gives me a bit of hope knowing it isn't just whoever is in the mood does something random to hit back. It makes me feel much more likely to support and donate.
Rather than responding to every rocket Trump launches, Senator Murphy, we would love to hear OUR message out there first. Project 2029 is the Democratic Project and we need someone to start writing!

That was a really good interview. Keep up the good work guys and gals at Meidas! The way they described the reconciliation process and how they beat it in 2017 against the efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act gave me hope that we might be able to do an end run around the budget cuts and tax cuts for the wealthy they seek this time- I think that message about the process and how the people in republican areas need to pressure their republican representatives to vote against budget cuts and tax cuts for the wealthy is really important to get out there to the right people.
