I don't know that Trump is calling all the shots here. In fact, I'm positive he's not. They are happy with him doing the showman part of the job, and he has the necessary cruelty and violent loyal followers. I think we know Musk is a huge player, as are Russell Vought and Stephen Miller. Vance is a wannabe playboy, in my mind. I think Trump truly has the ambition described here, but at this point in his life, especially, I don't think he has the energy for a real military campaign. I think he wants to do the easy, showy stuff. But he obviously doesn't want to and doesn't know how to think strategically, in terms of leading a nation. But I fully believe others in the administration would relish leading an imperial onslaught. Trump may hope to accomplish this economically, thus the tariffs. Those will come back to bite him with a bad recession.
