I had the chance to speak with Rep. Seth Moulton, a former Marine and Democratic congressman, and he laid it out plain and simple—Donald Trump has never respected veterans, and he’s proving it once again by gutting the VA and attacking those who have served.
“Let’s not forget, this is the guy who literally made fun of John McCain for being a P.O.W. in Vietnam, who called people who sign up losers, and if you get killed, a sucker,” Moulton reminded us. This isn’t new. This is who Trump has always been. And now, by slashing tens of thousands of VA jobs, he’s making sure veterans can’t get the care they earned.
But here’s the kicker: Republicans know Trump is a fraud. They know his NATO betrayal is reckless. They know he’s destroying the economy with his chaotic tariffs and dangerous instability. But they go along with it anyway—because they’re scared. “Fear,” Moulton said, summing it up in one word. “They’re just cowards.”
Think about that. MAGA Republicans stand and cheer when Trump talks about abandoning our allies—the same allies who stood with us after 9/11, who fought and died alongside American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Putin and Xi are watching Trump’s weakness and taking full advantage. As Moulton put it, “Trump is literally using the talking points of the enemy.”
And what about the economy? Trump promised prices would go down on day one. Instead, the stock market is tanking, GDP is collapsing, and we’re seeing stagflation for the first time in 50 years. Every day, Trump flip-flops on tariffs like he’s watching the market like a casino addict, panicking when it doesn’t go his way. No wonder Moulton’s office is being flooded with calls from Americans who are desperate and scared.
And then there’s DOGE—Elon Musk’s shadow government. While MAGA Republicans refuse to hold Musk accountable, Moulton sees the reality: “He’s not making government more efficient. He’s making it non-existent.” Veterans won’t get the care they need. Federal agencies are in chaos. But no Republican will dare hold a hearing because they’re too afraid of their billionaire overlord.
So what do Democrats do? Moulton had a message for his party: fight. But also listen. “We got the message that we lost. We got the message that you don’t trust us anymore. We’re going to turn this around.” It’s not just about calling out Trump—it’s about giving voters a reason to believe in a better future.
