This Democrat is Calling Out the Trump-Musk Con Job

Watch my latest interview with Rep. Jake Auchincloss right here on Meidas+

If you want to understand just how completely detached the MAGA Republicans have become from reality, look no further than their latest budget proposal—a cruel and destructive mess that slashes $880 billion from Medicaid, adds $19 trillion to the deficit, and guts essential infrastructure and farming resources. And while they’re busy tearing apart the social safety net, they’re out there fawning over Elon Musk like he’s some kind of divine figure.

That’s right. MAGA Senator Roger Marshall is literally chanting, "Go Elon, go!" while bizarrely claiming that Musk’s destruction of Twitter (or “X” as he insists on calling it) was some kind of business masterstroke. The same Musk who ran the platform into the ground? The same Musk who fired 80% of Twitter’s workforce and tanked its valuation? The same Musk whose biggest claim to fame recently has been pushing right-wing conspiracy theories and letting Nazis back on his app? Yeah, that’s the guy MAGA is worshiping.

Meanwhile, they’re telling struggling Americans that they’re lazy for needing Medicaid. Republican Congressman Andy Barr straight-up said that “work-capable adults” need to be kicked off Medicaid and shoved into private insurance—because nothing screams “compassion” like taking healthcare away from seniors, disabled individuals, and new mothers who rely on Medicaid as a lifeline.

I had to bring in Congressman Jake Auchincloss (D-MA) to break down this dystopian GOP agenda. He didn’t hold back.

“30% of Kentuckians are on Medicaid, and I’m sure they’re going to be thrilled that Andy Barr thinks they’re just lazy. New moms on maternity leave? Lazy. Families raising kids with developmental disabilities? Lazy. Seniors getting at-home care? Lazy. This is insanity.”

He’s right. These Republicans are touching a hot stove in slow motion, and they are going to get burned.

While Republicans are busy slashing healthcare and raising costs on working people, they’ve still got time for the really important stuff—like trying to put Donald Trump’s face on a $250 bill (yes, really). Congressman Joe Wilson is actually drafting legislation to create a Trump-branded piece of currency, calling it “the most valuable bill for the most valuable president.”

That’s not even satire. That’s how far gone these people are.

Then there’s Trump himself, who’s out here blaming egg prices on the Biden administration like he’s some outsider, completely forgetting that he literally ran the country into the ground for four years and promised to fix all of this on Day One. Instead, his economic plan is a disaster waiting to happen—raising taxes on everyday Americans while handing out giveaways to billionaires like Elon Musk and his cronies.

And just when you thought the grift couldn’t get any worse, Trump is now pushing a “gold card” immigration scam—where Russian and Chinese oligarchs can buy U.S. citizenship for $5 million. That’s right, the same guy who spent years screaming about the border now wants to sell American citizenship to the highest bidder. Congressman Auchincloss summed it up perfectly:

“Trump missed a business opportunity. He should’ve required these gold card applicants to buy his meme coin first. That’s the real Trump move—monetize citizenship the same way he’s monetized the presidency.”

It’s all a con job—and the only people winning are Trump’s billionaire donors, right-wing propagandists, and MAGA politicians who are too cowardly to stand up to him.

Auchincloss hit the nail on the head when he called out the distraction tactics Trump and the Republicans are using. They want you to focus on Musk, on Trump’s gold-plated nonsense, on whatever nonsense culture war they’re pushing that day—anything to stop you from noticing that they’re coming for your healthcare, your safety, and your financial security.

The good news? People aren’t buying it.

As Trump’s approval ratings continue to plummet, Americans are waking up to the fact that their home insurance, car insurance, and health insurance bills are all going up—and that Republicans are the ones making it worse. That Medicaid isn’t a handout—it’s a lifeline. That giving Donald Trump and his cronies more power would be a disaster for every working family in this country.

So here’s the deal: We fight back. We stay loud. We call out their corruption, their cruelty, and their incompetence at every turn. We hold them accountable.

And when the time comes, we vote these clowns out.
