Touted as a “special moment for America” by one of his allies, Donald Trump’s return to Butler, Pennsylvania, quickly turned into a platform for spreading lies and misleading claims about the federal response to Hurricane Helene. In this article, we will break down Trump’s Butler rally, with none of the sanewashing you will see in the corporate media. This event was erratic, bizarre, chaotic, cultish, and full of lies. Let’s go through what took place:
Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance, began his remarks by claiming that God had intervened and saved Trump’s life during his last speech in Butler when an assassination attempt resulted in the death of one of his supporters
In what has become a repetitive, tiresome display of hypocrisy, Vance tried to silence criticism of Trump by accusing Democrats of using “dangerous inflammatory rhetoric.”
After attempting to police criticism of his running mate, Vance then accused Kamala Harris of trying to “silence” people.
Vance also made a misleading statement about FEMA relief, implying that victims of Hurricane Helene would only receive $750.
Real estate investor and Trump ally Steve Witkoff delivered a strange statement, suggesting that Trump had previously died on stage, but returned to deliver his speech.
Eric Trump continued to claim that the Democratic Party tried to kill his father. This time, he connected that bizarre statement to an attack on the FEMA response to Hurricane Helene.
Eric Trump repeated a misleading statement on FEMA relief, echoing Vance’s claim that victims of Hurricane Helene would only receive $750.
Despite Vance’s earlier complaints about rhetoric, Lara Trump framed the election as a battle between good and evil.
Lara Trump claimed that Trump surviving an assassination attempt in Butler, during which one of his supporters was killed, was proof that God exists.
Lara Trump warned that she would find and prosecute anyone attempting to cheat in the election. She also threatened to track down any “illegal citizens” who voted and ensure they were deported.
When Trump finally took the stage, he said that by the grace of God, the perpetrator of the assassination attempt which resulted in death one of his supporters “did not succeed” and added, “did not come close.”
Trump said, “Over the past eight years, those who want to stop us from the future have slandered me, impeached me, indicted me, tried to throw me off the ballot, and who knows? Maybe even tried to kill me.”
Trump again referenced the “enemy within,” which appears to be a reference to his political opposition.
As Trump introduced Elon Musk, Musk jumped on stage behind him.
