The weekend is here. It’s almost Christmas time. And Donald Trump said he was criminally convicted in New York because of the MeidasTouch Network. He said it was our fault.
You know, just another very normal week for the MeidasTouch Network. Happy Saturday.
Some weeks you’ll never forget. This was one of them.
My phone started ringing off the hook—from colleagues, friends, and journalists. I knew something was up. It was Tuesday afternoon. I couldn’t pick up my phone because I was recording a podcast, but I started reading some of the text messages flooding in. Messages like:
“BEN! TRUMP JUST CALLED YOU OUT IN COURT!!”
“BEN, DID TRUMP SUE YOU. LOL!!”
“YOU OK DUDE?”
When the show ended, I found out what the commotion was about. Donald Trump had filed a motion to dismiss his felony criminal conviction in New York—and mentioned the MeidasTouch Network. Well, he didn’t just mention us. He blamed us for his felony criminal conviction. Seriously.
There it was, on pages 15 and 16 of his motion to dismiss. Trump claimed the MeidasTouch Network caused him “prejudice” during his criminal trial because of our coverage. He said that’s why the jury convicted him. That’s right—Trump claimed his conviction should be overturned because of the MeidasTouch Network.
On the one hand, his claim is ludicrous and patently frivolous. But on the other hand, as many of you have pointed out, I suppose it’s also a badge of honor that we’re living rent-free in his head.
For those who don’t know my background, I was a civil litigator before starting the MeidasTouch Network. I took on powerful interests in court, like when I was lead counsel for Colin Kaepernick. I prefer to spend my time bringing people together, but I am always prepared to fight. It’s no different now. You want a fight, Donald? Bring it.
Since the election, the MeidasTouch Network has been building the infrastructure to mount the biggest fight in American history against Trump. This community has been instrumental by becoming paid subscribers to this Substack. With zero investors, you’ve built the digital media network to take on these challenges.
As soon as Trump tried to trash MeidasTouch Network in court, we immediately called him out. I didn’t need to give a quote to a journalist because we have our Substack and YouTube platforms—which, clearly, Donald Trump has been reading. We responded rapid-fire. We let him know that his court motion attacking us showed what a weak and pathetic person he is. Imagine obsessing over us during his transition. He literally included five footnotes referencing us and cited specific episodes of our shows and hot takes. Pathetic.
So yes, it’s been an eventful week, to say the least.
But I woke up this morning at peace.
Not just at peace—but with a big smile on my face.
I feel energized. I feel motivated. I feel that the Meidas Mighty community has rallied from the understandable despair after the election to a renewed sense of purpose.
This community has built an independent media network that terrifies Trump enough that he’s attacking us in court and specially requested permission from the judge to file the motion to attack us.
You did this. You’ve grown this media network to a position where we beat corporate media networks on digital platforms and keep Trump up at night. We have the toolkit to fight—not by accident, but because you built it over the past four years. You’re building it now.
This week reminded me how grateful I am for you, the Meidas Mighty. How much this community has rallied. How much this community can accomplish. How prepared we all are to fight back and preserve and defend our democracy.
After we called Trump out for his motion, he went silent about us. Who knows when he’ll emerge and target us again? Probably soon. Who knows? It doesn’t matter. We’ve already won because we haven’t allowed him to steal our hope and our joy. He may have billionaires on his side, but we have the people on ours. The people will prevail.
So this weekend, and as we head into the holidays, keep your head held high.
You are doing great things right now. You are valued. You are respected. You are integral to this community, this country, and the world. You are a hero to so many. There is nothing you are not capable of doing. I am so grateful for you!
If you would like to help grow this network and are not already a paid subscriber, please consider becoming one now.
What a week!
It's too bad Merrick Garland laid down and let trump run over justice! The state cases need to stand on their own and trump can't meddle with them!
This gives us hope. Never give up. Never give up. Never give up!
