By Ben Meiselas
Hey Meidas Mighty, I’ll keep this short.
Yesterday, Donald Trump filed a legal brief before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in connection with his felony criminal conviction in New York State Court.
As you know, Trump was convicted on 34 felony counts by a unanimous jury in New York State Court in the “hush money” fraud case.
Trump previously tried to get the conviction overturned on various grounds, including arguing that the MeidasTouch hosts and podcasts prejudiced his defenses before the jury.
In two pages of his previous motion for a new trial and/or dismissal, Trump cited MeidasTouch Network podcasts and specific episodes as causing him prejudice that he claims led to his conviction. Donald Trump also introduced MeidasTouch-related material as exhibits during his cross-examination of witnesses. (Add the MeidasTouch Podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.)
As you also know, around that time, Trump sued MeidasTouch host Michael Cohen for $500 million—only to quickly dismiss the case after we helped Cohen with his legal defense.
Cohen scheduled Trump’s deposition, but Trump was too scared to show up and testify under oath. I was excited to attend.
Anyway, Trump is now trying to get his state court conviction removed to federal court for the appeals process, arguing that his legal defenses in the “hush money” case involve “federal questions” based on the immunity decision by the right-wing Supreme Court.
That’s what his filing was about yesterday.
As a law professor, I think Trump’s attempt to transfer a state court conviction to a federal appeals court is entirely frivolous.
But then again, we have a rogue and corrupt Supreme Court, so who knows what they’ll do.
Donald Trump remains humiliated by his felony criminal conviction.
He is a felon.
He has been found liable in civil court for sexual assault. He is a predator.
He is a fraud.
He is a felon.
I am not afraid to call it what it is.
He’s blamed numerous people for his felony conviction in New York State Court, whining like a little baby about it over and over again.
But I will never forget his failed attempt to blame us and our hosts for his felony conviction.
I have no doubt that, based on his prior lawsuits and motions, he will try to attack us and our hosts in federal court again if he can somehow manage to get the case into the federal system.
I can’t fully express in words how utterly pathetic and weak I think Trump is, as well as the spineless sycophants who enable his sickening behavior.
But I can express this: Whatever he decides to do regarding MeidasTouch Network and our hosts, we are not afraid and will never back down.
Just as we stared Trump down in his $500 million lawsuit against Cohen—by helping Cohen secure Trump’s deposition, which Trump was too scared to sit for—we will never hesitate to go on the offensive against Trump and his MAGA minions.
I’ve said it before: Now is the time to be fearless in support of democracy.
As the MeidasTouch Network has grown to be one of the most viewed networks in the world, we’ve become a target for threats and harassment by Trump supporters.
That tells me we’re right on target with our truthful reporting, day in and day out.
We won’t stop the work you’ve entrusted us with.
We will continue to be your voice and have your back—just as we know you have ours.
I am confident that democracy will prevail in the end, and we will all make it out of these strange and dark days together.

It’s a bad situation when 17-year olds can’t vote because they’re too young but three-year olds can be president. (And I totes agree with Pam.)
