Trump Caused Traffic Jams for Asheville Residents

Trump snarled traffic in a hurricane disaster area to show off his new McDonald's pin

Trump visited North Carolina today and snarled traffic, causing delays for residents of Asheville who are recovering from Hurricane Helene. Residents were trying to get to work, supplies, and take steps to get back on their feet, but were thwarted by the Trump traffic jams. This is Trump driving on roads that had been cleared for his arrival

Trump's arrived in eastern North Carolina for a photo op, where he received a McDonald's French fry certification pin that he didn't really earn. In social media posts, residents described how the Trump traffic jams impacted them

One Reddit user, WY228, reported that roads were "locked up" for "3 miles" in the "worst traffic" ever seen. The user added, "All for that dork to get stroked off by his cult followers at a photo op and repeat the same FEMA lies."

 Another user, YippeKayYahMrFalcon, stated that it took him forever to just drive a half mile down the road. PawsomeFarms said Trump should "wait until things have settled" and a visit from a high profile people are "just distractions and [a] safety hazard." 

In another exchange, WY228 stated that the GOP's FEMA lies have been debunked and now the GOP "is spinning to cover their ass for voting down more FEMA funding just before these storms and refusing to call a special session ...to open up more funding." Another user, GeminiBry, expressed dismay that their town is trying to setup a militia in order to oppose FEMA, the federal agency that provided disaster relief.

 Ashes2evil87 said friends were stuck in the Trump "traffic while they were headed to a meeting to speak to insurance about their house that was destroyed." Austin06 stated they were staying off the roads, but had an appointment they they ended up canceling because the roads were so bad. The user stated it took 2 hours to reroute back home

Throw_away_hazard stated they were "late for work this morning because" of the Trump traffic jams even after giving themself 30 minutes extra. With several roads already down in the area, the additional of Trump made a bad situation even worse.

 Agoraphobic_mess stated that Trump doesn't care about Asheville but is using the stop as "another gimmick to make him look better than he is." Picxaal stated that their dad "has been volunteering at a supply distribution area in Black Mountain" and noted that Trump's traffic jams caused those dropping off and seeking supplies to face significant delays in providing and obtaining relief.

 Arlowery84 stated the Trump traffic jams made driving time to an appointment and back take 3 hours and they had to postpone a supply run. Pirhomania said Trump caused the airport to be blocked off making their travel to work take much longer.

 Asheville resident and Twitter user PatAD stated that Trump's visit "closed down out busiest highways" was "the last thing we needed. PatAD said multiple people "were unable to make it to doctors appointments, potable water distribution sites, or lost transportation options for the day."

This occurred all so Trump could bluster at an unnecessary presser, spread FEMA lies, and receive his fake McDonald's fry machine certification pin

Trump doesn't know how to manage properly. We saw this with the pandemic and with how he handled relief for Puerto Rico. Trump went to North Carolina and caused delays and further disruption. Georgia Governor Brain Kemp recently compared Trump to damaging storm and that is exactly what he is.

Trump made people living in a hurricane disaster area late for work, unable to get clean water, miss appointments to get hurricane relief, and doctor appointments all so he could do his fake photo op and show off his french fry pin.
