I feel so sorry for the great President of Ukraine having to deal with this mentally ill so-called wannabe dictator of America!!!

It's not like he doesn't have enough issues to deal with, he also has to listen to the rantings of the orange clown. How does Zelynsky not throw up after listening to him or Vance or Musk?

Having watched how great a job a comedian has been doing running Ukraine I have been thinking for a long time how the ads managed to hurt themselves when they forced the Sen from MN to resign over some teen age prank The Dems really do eat their own I can also clearly see how Dem leadership in congress really don’t know how to read the country facts and truth don’t seem to matter much right now neither does holding a presser with corporate media Personally I think Jon Stewart should be drafted as the D candidate for president I think he would do as good a job for the US as Zelenskyy does for Ukraine

Expand full comment

Actually I prefer Colbert but I’ll take either one. Sad times when the comedians tell the truth and we get nothing but Russian propaganda.

Or the comedian who was Senator from MN whose name I can’t recall any or all of them would be better than most of the current Democratic leadership in congress who are acting as if they had no clue how to counter as trump/musk rolls all over them demonstrating his version of theGish gallop

You can definitely tell your a maggot! You can't put together a proper sentence, you can't spell, and your comprehension of what's actually going on around the world, and in this country is so uneducated. Keep drinking the orange Kool-Aid. I bet you live in a red state. You are about to suffer "BIGLEY" for what your false God has done to programs used mostly by red states. Please go get an education before making these idiotic posts. It really does nothing for yourself, or your maggot clan of idiots. Have a good flood, or hurricane, or snowstorm, or enjoy your food pantries shutting down, along with your child education programs, daycare shutting down, and your Medicaid check being taken along with your Social Security, and Disability! Maybe take a vacation to anywhere on a plane! Feel safe yet? There has only been approximately four crashes in a weeks time! Zalensky is so far above Trumps lack of intelligence it's pathetic. Carol-Ann, perhaps I misread TimothyRichley’s post because I thought he was genuinely praising Zelenskyy who was put down by Trump as just a comedian. And frankly, as Democrats, we are perhaps too harsh on our own when they make a mistake while MAGAts have the audacity to put a rapist in the WH and approve the appointment of all kinds of low life. I hope that Timothey’s criticism of Democrats in congress was simply voicing frustration with the present situation. I believe that they are doing the best they can. How frustrating it must be to maintain your integrity while battling people with no integrity or honesty. I truly applaud them for their work. As far as Colbert and Stewart, I stand by what I said that their intelligence and honesty puts them head and shoulders above the current president and all the lying sycophants that do his bidding. If I was the one misreading the original post, I regret liking and responding to it.

What tells you that MAGA youth are jumping ship? I am curious, because I don't see it. Here is a quote from today's The Guardian, "...How do Trump voters view his whirlwind start?" "He's coming at everything just a whirlwind. You don't know what he's going to do next. I very much doubt it: Trump won largely because the Latino vote swung heavily in his favor, and no way were they ever going to vote for a self-proclaimed socialist.

You make an excellent point. It is hard for Latinos to recognize the difference between Castro and a democratic socialist like Bernie. In the movie “The Apprentice”, Sebastian Stan portrays a young Donald Trump determined to make his mark in 1970s New York. Reflecting on what he saw in Trump, Stan said in a New York Times story. “What I’ve always seen in his journey, and certainly we were exploring in the film, was the solidifying of a person into stone, the loss of humanity.”

Despite his public efforts to appear amiable and open, Donald J. Trump is a cold-hearted vindictive man.

Well, any suggestions you have on how we can do that before the next election would be deeply appreciated. Our federal judges have made some favorable rulings, but let's hope the dictator wannabe doesn't attempt to fire all of them, too. And if cases are referred to the Supreme Court, it is anybody's guess on how that is going to turn out. Many loyal Americans have been protesting the madness. Right now the only option I feel I have is to write to my three members of Congress, and that seems like a waste of time since all are Republicons, including one of the newest ones who is a former used car salesman. Any other ideas you have for loyal Americans? Let's hear them because I am feeling very helpless.

This is off topic (and Ukraine is incredibly important) but this happened late yesterday. People need to be talking about this. Trump's latest executive order establishes a total unified Executive as meaning the authority of the President.

All federal agencies now come under the supervision and overall jurisdiction of the White House with the exception of the Federal Reserve in its application of monetary policy (it's primary role as a central bank) but not in relation to oversight of financial institutions. The Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) shall provide guidance and supervision to all regulatory agencies in how they function. All report to the President.

"Moreover, all executive departments and agencies, including so-called independent agencies, shall submit for review all proposed and final significant regulatory actions to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) within the Executive Office of the President before publication in the Federal Register." This includes the Federal Elections Commission.

"The Director of OMB shall, on an ongoing basis review independent regulatory agencies’ obligations for consistency with the President’s policies and priorities." It also looks like the Director of the OMB, under the authority of the President, can "apportion" appropriations for any agency according to whether their performance is consistent with the President's policies and priorities. This includes withholding funds for specific projects.

Finally, "The President and the Attorney General, subject to the President’s supervision and control, shall provide authoritative interpretations of law for the executive branch. The President and the Attorney General’s opinions on questions of law are controlling on all employees in the conduct of their official duties. No employee of the executive branch acting in their official capacity may advance an interpretation of the law as the position of the United States that contravenes the President or the Attorney General’s opinion on a matter of law, including but not limited to the issuance of regulations, guidance, and positions advanced in litigation, unless authorized to do so by the President or in writing by the Attorney General."

It's put in the legalistic language of the Constitution, but the meaning of this Executive Order is clear. Trump has just declared himself to be a dictator.
