Unsealed Filing in Donald Trump’s Federal Election Interference Case: Major Revelations and Analysis
Newly unsealed 165-page filing reveals detailed evidence of Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
A newly unsealed 165-page filing by Special Counsel Jack Smith in the federal election interference case against Donald Trump has revealed a wealth of detailed evidence, providing a roadmap of the alleged conspiracies orchestrated by Trump and his co-conspirators to overturn the 2020 election results. This filing, made available by U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, systematically counters Trump's claim of presidential immunity and outlines the criminal nature of his actions after the election loss.
In what MeidasTouch Legal AF host Michael Popok has described as a “mini trial presentation of the evidence to the American people,” this unsealed filing goes beyond mere allegations, providing witness testimony, documents, emails, and other forms of hard evidence. As Popok notes, this filing is “the nightmare scenario that Donald Trump dreaded” as it publicly lays out the case against him ahead of the 2024 election.
Key Revelations from the Filing
Please note, these are our initial findings from reading through the 165-page document. All of our Meidas+ members will be able to see a large amount of the filing’s revelations below, but only our paid members will have access to the entire list. Paid supporters enable us to do this work, and we are grateful for each and every one of you! We will likely discover much more as we re-read the filing, but this should provide a comprehensive overview as to what caught our eye:
Efforts to Foment Chaos at Detroit's TCF Center (p. 8): A Trump campaign employee and co-conspirator attempted to incite chaos at the TCF ballot processing center in Detroit, revealing how the campaign sought to disrupt key battleground states. The filing notes: “When the colleague suggested that there was about to be unrest reminiscent of the Brooks Brothers Riot, a violent effort to stop the vote count in Florida after the 2000 presidential election, [P5] responded, "Make them riot" and "Do it!!!” P5 is described as a campaign operative.
Rudy Giuliani Takes Over (p. 9/10): Trump replaced his legal team with Rudy Giuliani on November 13, 2020, because Giuliani was willing to lie about election fraud. This marked the start of Trump's most aggressive legal efforts to overturn the election. A day later, Trump publicly announced Giuliani’s leadership via Twitter, naming other key members of his team, including Sidney Powell and Jenna Ellis.
Fabrication of Noncitizen Voting Claims (p. 10): Smith plans to prove that Trump and his allies fabricated claims of noncitizen voting out of whole cloth, demonstrating the extent of their disinformation campaign.
Broken Promises of Evidence (p. 17-19): Trump promised to provide evidence of fraud to Governors Doug Ducey and Brian Kemp, and Arizona Speaker Rusty Bowers. However, despite his assurances, Trump never produced any evidence.
Mark Meadows Knew Dead Voter Claims Were False (p. 21, 22): Trump’s chief of staff, Mark Meadows, knew that the claim of “more than 10,000 dead voters” in Georgia was false, yet Giuliani continued to push this lie to state officials.
.
Pressure on Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr (p. 23, 24): Trump pressured Georgia AG Chris Carr not to lobby other attorneys general against signing a Supreme Court amicus brief aimed at overturning the election results.
Mocking Sidney Powell’s Theories (p. 43-44): Trump reportedly muted his phone and mocked Sidney Powell’s outlandish conspiracy theories during a meeting on November 20, referring to her claims as “crazy” and even making a “Star Trek” reference. This demonstrates Trump’s private understanding that the fraud claims were baseless.
Evidence of Awareness and Admission of the Fake Elector Scheme from Trump's Team (p. 51): The document from the Special Counsel's brief highlights that members of Trump's team, including Ken Chesebro (identified as CC5), were fully aware that their actions regarding the GOP elector scheme were illegitimate. In the communications, they openly acknowledge the legal infirmities of their plan and even call the electors “fake,” while outlining their plan to let members of Congress use their lies in order to make false claims disputing the election
