Past comments include denying AIDS and calling vaccinated children "damaged"
Written by J.D. Wolf
RFK Jr, who once said Trump didn't deserve another chance as president, is now Trump's Heath and Human Services (HHS) nominee. A series of RFK Jr.'s controversial and factually incorrect statements were just resurfaced on Bluesky, an app that many people are flocking to in the midst of a mass exodus away from Twitter/X.
These past statements could imperil Trump's HHS nomination during Senate confirmation hearings. Here are of the highlights from 10 of those resurfaced clips.
1. You "cannot trust" doctors
In a clip from a Russian TV show, RFK Jr. stated, "You cannot trust medical advice from medical professionals."
2. Water chemicals makes kids become trans
In an interview with Jordan B. Peterson for the Daily Wire, RFK Jr suggested chemicals in the water are turning kids trans.
3. 5G cell networks and digital currency
RFK Jr believes the pandemic was used as cover to install 5G cell networks and claimed that digital currency will lead to slavery. Trump has embraced crypto and sells digital products.
4. AIDS denialism
RFK Jr has pushed AIDS denialism talking points. AIDS denialism suggest that AIDS isn't a virus, but rather is caused by other factors.
In one clip, RFK Jr blamed AIDS on a "gay lifestyle" consisting of a lack of sleep and drugs.
In another clip, RFK Jr repeated a claim that AIDS was caused by a "party lifestyle."
5. Vaccinated children are "damaged," have lower IQ
Trump’s HHS nominee claimed vaccinated children are “damaged,” “poisoned,” have lower IQ, and “are socially awkward,” but unvaccinated children have “bright eyes,” “engagement,” “curiosity,” and “affection.”
6. Too bad parents can't "whack" their kids anymore
RFK Jr lamented that parents aren't able to "whack" their children anymore.
7. False information about Hepatitis B
Trump’s HHS nominee has falsely claimed hepatitis B only spreads from “sex with a really seasoned prostitute” or needle sharing. According to the Mayo Clinic, the disease can be spread though sexual conduct with any carrier of the disease, not just sex workers, and from an infected mothers to their infants.
8. Mask mandates are like Nazi medical experiments
RFK Jr compared mask mandates to Nazi medical experiments on Jewish people imprisoned in concentration camps during the Holocaust. No, RFK Jr, the Nazis weren't trying to mask the Jewish people.
9. Viruses, you've got a friend in me
In another resurfaced clip, RFK Jr said he understands an argument that "viruses are our friend." That is quite something coming from the HHS nominee.
10. "Conspiracy theories are often the truth"
RFK Jr is on record stating that "conspiracy theories are often the truth." That comment might score well with fringe MAGA social media followers, but that is not really the kind of rhetoric you want coming from someone in charge of the nation's health.
