What a 2nd Trump Cabinet Would Look Like - Picks at Each Position
I think it is useful for voters to know what he has planned for 2.0.
I have spent quite a lot of time over the past few years of Trump's post-presidency listening to all his interviews and rally speeches, reading every social media post. The topic of his future Cabinet has come up from time to time, and names have been tossed around.
There have also been several candidates for appointments who have openly lobbied for them or at least mentioned the jobs that they would like if Trump was to win another term. All of this, of course, assumes that Trump and the people involved are not in prison and, God forbid, he wins the election.
I am also not factoring in diversity (Trump won't care) or the likelihood they will be confirmed by the Senate (Trump won't care). These are just the people I think he would look at regardless of any external factors.
Some people who might be popular choices for a second Trump Cabinet are also important to Trump where they are at in their current positions or would likely refuse a position because they have other aspirations. I did not include those people in my list. A good example would be Ted Cruz, who would be a logical choice for Attorney General, but I think he has other plans.
I also included some senior positions that are technically not a part of the Cabinet.
CHIEF OF STAFF - DEVIN NUNES
Trump is going to want an intensely loyal hatchet man who can also ride herd on the tiresome nuts in the House GOP - and the CEO of Truth Social fits the bill. Junior can take over the failing social media site, and Nunes can come in to help Trump dismantle the Deep State.
SECRETARY OF STATE - TUCKER CARLSON
I realize this one might seem crazy but hear me out. Tucker needs a job, Trump loves him, and he pretends to love Trump. Tucker has been obsessed with foreign policy issues from the perspective that Trump likes - he loves Putin, hates global migration, hostile to NATO, climate change, and globalist NGO institutions. I also believe Tucker has presidential aspirations in 2028, and this would give him the chance to be set up as the heir apparent to MAGA.
SECRETARY OF DEFENSE - MICHAEL FLYNN
Once again, I am not factoring in the ability to get confirmed by the Senate, which would be a major issue with this pick. Trump has mentioned several times that Flynn will be part of his Admin if elected, Flynn badly wants back in after he was unceremoniously fired last time and prosecuted, and I think Trump would love nothing better to stick to the establishment he loathes by putting Flynn in charge of DOD. He will also be the perfect partner with Tucker to help Trump pull the US out of NATO, which will be one of the first orders of business for this group.
ATTORNEY GENERAL - MATT GAETZ
There are a lot of contenders here, but this appointment is personal for Trump. There is nothing Trump wants more than to launch a revenge tour of investigations and prosecutions on his political enemies while dismantling the FBI, and Gaetz seems like the perfect guy. Gaetz has also been lobbying for the job. Although I believe Jeffrey Clark would get serious consideration, I don't think he has the type of personality that Trump is looking for here. Gaetz does.
SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY - VIVEK RAMASWAMY
Vivek would definitely have a senior spot in a second Trump Admin, and his recent statements on the Federal Reserve, monetary policy, and other things seem to place him squarely in the mold that Trump would be looking for with Treasury. It is also a job that requires a great deal of communication and public speaking in various forums, and that is Ramaswamy’s strength, despite the fact that something crazy can come out of his mouth at any moment. Clearly, for Donald Trump, that is not a deal breaker.
SECRETARY OF HOMELAND SECURITY - BYRON DONALDS
I believe Donalds has his sights set on running for Governor of Florida in 2028, and two years in this spot would set him up nicely for that or a run at a Senate seat down the line. This job is going to be all about the border and immigration in a Trump Administration - so I certainly wouldn't rule out Stephen Miller, but I'm not sure Trump is comfortable enough with Miller to put him in this senior of a position. Donalds says all the right things that Trump wants to hear, he is a strong public speaker, loyal, and a rising star in the GOP. If he isn't in this spot, he will be somewhere.
SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES - KARI LAKE
This assumes she loses her Senate race in Arizona. If so, she will definitely have a spot in the Cabinet and I'm going to slide her into this spot because none of the other jobs are a great fit for her skill set besides Press Secretary, but I think she would consider that job beneath her pay grade. Trump seems to like having her around, she will do whatever he wants done with the job, be intensely loyal, and will be a popular choice with the base.
SECRETARY OF TRANSPORTATION - ANDREW GIULIANI
I think Trump is going to look to pay back his loyal friend Rudy by sticking his son in a lower profile spot. Andrew ran unsuccessfully for Governor of NY, but Trump likes him, he is loyal, and he served in his last Administration, although in a very junior role. This will just be a payoff to Rudy for not flipping on him.
