Hi Meidas Mighty,
It took far too long, but FINALLY, the media is fighting back and standing up to Donald Trump’s bullying tactics. The start of Trump’s term was marked by a humiliating capitulation by some of our top media agencies. Before he even was in the Oval Office, ABC forked over over $15 million to Trump to settle a frivolous defamation case involving George Stephanopoulos. Meta ponied up $25 million to Trump to settle an equally frivolous lawsuit regarding his suspension from the company’s platforms following the January 6th insurrection.
These capitulations emboldened Trump. He became bloodthirsty. He launched more attacks and lawsuits against media agencies to try to silence dissent. For a while, it seemed like all of them will simply roll over.
Until this week.
Over the past week, Trump’s frivolous lawsuits, designed solely to harass and intimidate, have begun to backfire.
For instance, his absurd lawsuit against Ann Selzer—famed for her Iowa polls—even after his election win, was nothing more than a pathetic attempt to penalize her for a poll that showed him losing. Selzer responded on Friday with a blistering response, arguing that there’s no such claim as “fraudulent news” under our First Amendment. It was a masterclass in defending free speech.
It’s not just Selzer. Media powerhouses like CBS and 60 Minutes are fighting back against Trump’s $20 billion lawsuit over an edited interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. I mean, really—Trump, who was too scared to even face a proper interview on 60 Minutes, resorted to a lawsuit to try to punish CBS for giving Kamala Harris airtime. His tactics of delaying depositions, filing amended complaints at the last minute, and generally trying to bully the system only highlight his true colors as a scared, pathetic bully.
The Associated Press is taking action as well. After getting banned from press briefings for continuing to use the name “Gulf of Mexico,” they have now launched a lawsuit against the Trump Administration.
I’m encouraged by these courageous acts. When our journalists and legal defenders—backed by organizations like FIRE—rise up to protect our constitutional rights, it sends a clear message: the truth is non-negotiable. This was an unwavering commitment we made here at the MeidasTouch Network from day 1—and I am glad to see these massive media conglomerates following our lead.
Let this be a rallying cry for all of us. In these turbulent times, it’s crucial that we stand up for our First Amendment and our democratic values.
The games are over, and it’s time for everyone, especially those in the media and all supporters of free speech, to step up and defend our country. Stay vigilant, stay informed, and let’s continue to fight for a society where truth and justice prevail.
Let me reiterate: We will never waver. We will never back down. We will never bend the knee. We will always hold truth to power—no matter the consequences.
