Popok discusses Donald Trump's legal team’s recent corrupt tactics, particularly their attempt to avoid sentencing in the New York criminal case by citing the Presidential Transition Act of 1963—while at the same time Trump’s transition team is completely out of compliance with the very law he is citing to get out of sentencing. Shocker.
Popok explains that Trump’s lawyers argued to New York judge Juan Merchan that the Presidential Transition Act, along with his newly granted “absolute” presidential immunity from SCOTUS, should prevent Trump’s sentencing following his conviction on 34 felony counts. This law, originally created to ensure a smooth presidential transition after the Kennedy assassination, mandates protocols and ethics compliance that Trump's team is allegedly violating by rejecting federal transition support, as well as cybersecurity and transparency requirements, and as a result the Trump campaign keeps getting hacked by the Chinese, Russians, and Iranians.
Popok calls out the irony of Trump's lawyers invoking the Act as a legal shield while openly defying its provisions. It is time for some accountability for Trump and his corrupt team. Popok argues that the Manhattan DA should investigate these claims and hold Trump’s lawyers accountable for misleading the court.
